Easy Holiday Decor

I love using my digital scrapbooking supplies and my mad photoshop skillz to create fun and cheap decor for the holidays. I thought I'd share a couple of my most recent creations. A while ago I saw a pack of three white plastic square frames in the $1 section of Target - actually they were $2.50, but still - cheap. They are 3.75" x 3.75", which is an odd size, but that doesn't matter when you've got photoshop! I just opened a new document and set that as my size. The first thing I made were these I *heart* U squares for Valentines Day:

{blue paper and pink heart from "Just Breathe" by Kelley Mickus; pink background paper from "Hugs & Kisses" by Michelle Coleman; dark pink paper from "Beautiful Journey Design Blocks" by Michelle Coleman; brown floral paper from "Our Story" by Kelley Mickus; brown bow from "Lil' Love Bug" by GG Digital Designs; pink heart flowers by Jason Gaylor; acrylic letters by Kristen Aagard; acrylic heart from Designs by Nikki; pink bow from "Hugs & Kisses" by Jackie Eccles; pink lace from "The Beginning" by Rachel Young; brown heart from "Journey 365 Jumbo" by SuzyQ Scraps; "Cursif" font}

Here's how they looked in the frames:

So today I replaced them with something for Easter. I started out with this little bunny, from the April Morning kit by Miss Mint:

HOWEVER, even if I didn't have a bunny shape already in my digi scrapping stash, I could pretty easily find something similar by downloading a free dingbat font. Just out of curiosity I went searching and found this font that would also work. Again - EASY and FREE.

Then I just added a white(ish) background paper, and clipped some springy colored gingham papers to the bunny to create these:

{background paper from "Spring Fever" kit by Kim Crothers; gingham papers from "Happy Spring Paper Pack" by Crystal Wilkerson; bunny from "April Morning" by Miss Mint}

I love how they look all framed up on my bookcase! And the best part of it is it took about 10 minutes to create and cost me almost nothing!

Happy Easter everyone!

Spring is HERE!

Every year the anticipation of spring nearly kills me! But I'm finally starting to see and feel it. And scrapbook it!

These little yellow crocuses are popping up all over my yard, such a happy sight. For this layout I used the Coming Up Spring kit by Down This Road Designs:

And this kit seemed just perfect for Easter, but since we it isn't Easter yet I found some photos from a couple of years ago. This adorable kit is Bunny Impostors, a collab kit by SuzyQ Scraps and Ziggle Designs:

2009 album cover

I *finally* started uploading all of my 2009 monthly pages to be made into a photobook, when I realized I need a cover page. So here's what I came up with:

{background paper, stamped dots, and yellow alpha from "Sunshine" kit by SuzyQ Scraps; leaves, ricrac, flower, heart, swirls, and label from "Forest Frolic" collab kit by Amy Sumrall and SuzyQ Scraps; "Pea Olsen" font}

2004-2008

As I've mentioned before, I love a layout that contrasts two or more photos taken at different times. The focus of this layout is how our family grew during a specific period of time (2004-2008). The only struggle I have is where to put a layout like this after I've printed it, because I like to organize my albums by year. I will probably put it in the 2008 album? Still trying to decide where it would fit best.

Oh, and isn't this page kit pretty? It's a new one called "Kelly Girl" by three designers (all named Kelly) releasing at The Digi Chick on Thursday.

Philly Layouts

I've been on a little hiatus. Between moving to a new house and a couple of weeks without internet access, I haven't done much scrapping. I was able to get two more pages for my Philly album done:

{background paper from "Oh Happy Day" by Leora Sanford; frame by Lemonaid Lucy; brown/white floral paper from "Our Story" by Kelley Mickus; cream paper and green leaves from "Cowgirl's Dream" by Kelley Mickus; floral cutout from Sweet Shoppe Design's collab kit "So Memorable" by Julie Billingsley; "Jane Austen" and "Teletype" fonts}

{background paper from "Maybell" by Audrey Neal; orange paper from "Happiness" by Kelley Mickus; stitches from "Stitch Hiccups #4" by SuzyQ Scraps; flower stamps from "Revive" by Taylor Made Designs; oval stamps from "Loveable" by Michelle Coleman; orange flowers from "Autumn Garden" by Wimpychompers Creations; orange alpha from "Vintage Dreams Retro" by Michelle Coleman and Lori Barnhurst; clip from "A Forever Family" by GG Digital Designs; "Sedona Script" and "Teletype" fonts}
